Middle School students follow a period schedule, with the 4 core
classes of Math, Science, History and English taught by different teachers. Each
class period is approximately 55 minutes long and each class meets daily. In
addition, students attend class 2-3 times weekly in the areas of Bible, Art,
Music, Spanish and PE. Each day, Middle School students have a period reserved
for organizational help from a teacher, referred to as a "GO" or "get organized"
period.
Special classes are an integral part of Middle School at
Evergreen Academy. "Exploratories" are periodic classes in special
subjects, such as First Aid, Nutrition, Missions and more. Field trips are
planned that support classroom learning. 6th grade students attend a week-long
trip to Washington, DC, while 8th grade students attend a class trip to New York
City.
Bible class involves study, application and discussion; a weekly
chapel service rounds out each students Christian education and a Discipleship
group every Friday closes out the week.
