Roles & Responsibilities
The ability of each child
to reach his or her full potential at Evergreen Academy is dependent on a
'three-legged' stool: teachers & administrators, parents and the student. The information
provided below does not constitute a contract between Evergreen Academy and any
recipient but is intended to optimize teamwork.
Administration
The administration of the school, led by Chris Lierheimer, is
responsible for the day to day operations of the school. In short, they are
responsible for ensuring that nothing interferes with our children’s successful
learning. Highlights of their responsibilities are as follows:
- Select, review and introduce quality curriculum
- Hire, mentor and monitor all teachers and staff
- Strategically plan for resource needs
- Oversee all day to day aspects of the school
- Facilitate the sharing of information between the faculty
and staff and parents
- Serve as appeal for unresolved teacher/parent disputes
Administrators strive to foster a positive environment for the Evergreen Academy
community, maintain an open door policy for all issues, and seek
alternatives that result in an improved learning experience and increased
operational efficiency. Curriculum should be consistent with the mission of the
school. In addition to hiring qualified instructors, the administration
observes classrooms regularly and provides additional staff and administrative
development through semi-monthly staff meetings and annual professional
conferences.
Faculty
and Staff
The faculty and staff ultimately possess the largest amount of influence on
our children. The Faculty’s roles and responsibilities are outlined
briefly here for the benefit of others. They annually sign a policy
agreement with the school which more fully describes their requirements.
All staff at Evergreen Academy are expected to:
- Be familiar with all school policies and procedures and lead by example
and judiciously enforce policies in all instances
- Communicate via phone or conference quarterly
(or more) with parents
of each child under their instruction in an attempt to promote teamwork between the
family and the school
- Be available to all parents via set hours, phone or email to respond to
their inquiries or issues
- Foster a Christian environment within the classroom
- Attend certain school functions as directed by the administration
- Inform parents of any unusual disciplinary actions
- Be supportive of and carry out all directives from the Administration
- Inform the Administrators of all parent/teacher issues that aren’t
finding successful resolution
Parents
A parent’s responsibility
does not stop with the delivery of children to the school. Key items that
parents should feel accountable for to ensure their children’s success are as
follows:
- Be familiar with and supportive of the other sections of the handbook
- Communicate early with your child’s teacher about what you believe is
the onset of an issue
- Escalate issues to the Administrators if
necessary
- Minimize the number and duration of school absences
- Attend school functions when possible
- Provide your children with a home environment conducive to a successful
Evergreen Academy experience
As stated earlier, these
Roles and Responsibilities are intended to be guidelines and do not replace any
formal agreement the school may have with specific persons or groups of
persons. The spirit of the “Roles and Responsibilities” section is to establish
reasonable expectations for all members of the Evergreen Academy community in
order to promote the continued success of our students as it pertains to their
academic success, character, and faith.
